"At first, I thought they handed me the wrong dossier. I couldn't believe they wanted this man dead. Third generation West Point, top of his class. Korea, Airborne. About a thousand decorations; etc, etc... I'd heard his voice on the tape and it really put a hook in me. But I couldn't connect up that voice with this man. Like they said he had an impressive career. Maybe too impressive... I mean perfect. He was being groomed for one of the top slots of the corporation." - Apocalypse Now is a 1979 American epic psychological war film directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola
"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." - Sun Tzu
"When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. I’m here a week now… waiting for a mission… getting softer. Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger." - Captain Willard
Upon returning to San Diego from N.Y City in September 2001 I ran into someone who would have profound change in my life at Frog's Gym in Solana Beach. My new soon to be friend was wearing a T-shirt of a bar I had heard about from my neighbor's father who was the bouncer & bartender [former NFL Center with the look of a hard life]. Captain' Kidd in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. My 1970's porn star looking friend used to run a hedge fund in Boston and enjoyed explaining the virtues of gold as an asset during such a time.

Corporate Fixed Income with an outstanding bond desk at Morgan Stanley helped make me along with the ability to pitch high dividend oil companies. Telling the story of commodities in backwardation to contango while I dance the Tango on a Reynold's Yater 9'1" every evening.
Most all clients hated the idea of gold & precious metals. Coins were sent to my parents to build a base at $311 gold and $4.37 silver. At a 1% commission the Morgan Stanley branch manager was not pleased. My largest new client purchased two 1K ounce silver bars at $4.36 of which we guessed were not in inventory. Shipping these bars took over an hour of planning and later learned assets were not held in custodial accounts. Counter-Party Risk.
Imagine helping a client purchase $8.5K worth of physical silver for $8,720 - Then not having the sense to force him to sell when it was over 11X in 8 years?
"Don't confuse a bull market with brains."
Important point is my client could have made a market the old-fashioned way in accordance with Article 1, Section 10 locking in his gain and retaining the rest of his insurance policy for free.

Skin-In-The-Game at the time was in a 1913 Bungalow upon 3 properties in the old United Verde mine parcels overlooking Sedona, Arizona.
My fortune at the time was I was smart enough to know I was less than intelligent and requested permission to study for the Series 7 in Carlsbad, California... the window was closing to learn to surf.
2002 was the Transition Year living in a Silver Eurovan while working for a major New York wire-house in Del Mar, California. Every day longboarding the Pacific and back to a combination of marketing and research. At the time I knew 'just enough to be dangerous.' [D.A.P.].

Evening self-sabotage eventually helped distort the mind to mistakenly move too many chess pieces towards non-accretive gold companies before and after the crash of 2008. Lack of Spiritual Awareness, clarity and humility resulted in not reading balance sheets nor recognizing the size and scale of the reflation. Pride before the fall.
If I was never going to make it, I still made it. Survived the holocaust of NYC on 09.11.01 and the best tribute to those lost was to live to the fullest.
Experiencing multitudes of stimuli & failures in 2002 was significant.
Price discovery of capital has been eliminated from the financial markets with 10 years of zero interest rate policies... the lost decade from 2009-2019.
