“Our age cannot be complete understood if all the others are not understood. The song of history can only be sung as a whole.” – Jose Ortega Y Gasset
“Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.” – Daniel Patrick Moynihan
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” – Steve Jobs
“Avoid that friend who is greedy for wealth.” - Nagarjuna
Obtaining material on the world web is effortless. Discovering interesting, relevant and accurate information is, and always has been, up to the due diligence of the individual. The reader is encouraged to question ideas, experiences or philosophies documented in this record.
We are not experts in any one topic from predicting future economic or investment trends to identifying the perfect lifestyle. Our perceptions of many current trends and past events are based on extensive research and direct experiences. We intend to document many resources so the individual may further expand upon cited topics.
Personal occurrences cited in this journal are from perception and may have changed over time. Our viewpoint of many events may be different than what is reported by the media or academic disciplines.
We believe there is no substitute for real experience. Fundamental research from hard data in many fields may aid in our perspective but we greatly value practical contact with and observation of facts or events. Much like a competent detective or investigative journalist we enjoy seeking information from a myriad of resources.
We have been fortunate to have contact with many great individuals with incredible personal resumes. One of the most important lessons we continue to learn is there is often no one rule that works in every situation and, despite continued technological advances, there is often no better education than direct understanding by personal events.
There is an intention to enlighten and entertain. Hopefully our story can be applied to many different people and provide strength for a better outlook. Despite some of the challenges we see on “spaceship earth” [1] we hope to show there is a great opportunity to excel and possibly lead by example. Our journey has encountered many great mistakes, but we saw the definition of great individuals to reveal their character and integrity when tested. We see a counterintuitive and contrarian way to achieve many of goals with continued respect to those looking at other alternatives. There is no one ideal path for any individual. We live by a code summarized by a friend and fellow anarchist [2]:
- - Do everything you say you are going to do.
- - Respect others private space and capital.
Let the “buyer beware” that our philosophy has been built on some hard times and may not be ideal for everyone. We intend not to offend anyone. We simply intend to live productive lives with a passion going forward.
Caution is not cowardly. Carelessness is not courage.
Carpe diem -
